Visual Arts & Performing Arts

Provide space for students to collaborate and engage in arts activities from a variety of disciplines.

The mission of SCUSD's Visual Arts and Performing Arts (VAPA) is to promote higher academic achievement, develop marketable career skills, encourage continued education, and enhance the quality of life in the community through the Arts. Within VAPA, students will be provided with opportunities to explore careers within the broad fields of art, entertainment, and media; to understand the relationship between academic success and success in the workplace; and to develop the necessary skills to sustain a meaningful career in their chosen field. Providing the spaces needed for these programs is another way to support one of SCUSD's LCAP goals to prepare students for College and Career Readiness.

Visual Arts

Is there dedicated space for art teachers to facilitate the learning of Visual Arts at secondary grade level? For all school levels is there flexible space to use for art?

Performing Arts

Is there dedicated space to support a variety of performing art programs such as dance, music, theatre and their community partners?

Display

Is space for 2D and 3D display for student work provided throughout the campus to make the learning explicit and instill pride?

Daily Access

Is there flexible space to support to Multi-use dance and fitness space?

Events

Is there performance event space for large groups as well as the whole school community?

Active Learning

Are there labs for emerging and evolving technologies that include digital arts, media production, and electronic sports gaming?
